On The Same Boat
He was a mealy-mouthed fellow
Making friend of his own but weary self
Like a lone traveler adrift in the middle
Of the seemingly endless seas;
Lost, downtrodden, and in total quandary.
I watched him; empathized with him
I felt his misgivings and pains
Wanting to help; to lead him the way
To search for his place under the sun.
But I am a lone traveler too
In the same ocean of life;
Adrift in the middle of the same endless seas,
Plagued by the same perplexities.
He was I... How could I?
